Our Instrumental Taster Scheme provides an opportunity for young people to try out four different instruments before making an informed choice on what to continue learning. The programme operates on a carousel basis, whereby each instrument is explored for 5-weeks (20 weeks in total across two terms) before moving on to the next one. Sessions are taught in groups of three to five, and will cover aspects of general musicianship, singing, creativity, technical development and performance. In the last week of the whole programme, children will get the chance to briefly revisit each of the instruments they have tried out and then complete a short evaluation of their experiences on the programme. Children will be assessed on each instrument and a summary report with recommendations will be provided at the end of the whole programme. This is a 20 week programme and you will need to sign up to the full 20 weeks. The scheme runs on Saturday mornings: Children in KS1 (aged 6-8) 10:15am-11am Children in KS2 (ages 9-11) 11:15am-12pm Where: The Tomlinson Centre in Queensbridge Road (next door to Queensbridge School) Cost: £250 for 20 weeks.
