The Future Music Group Presents: Hackney Music Maestros, August 2018 June 7, 2018 by Claire Sivier The Music Maestros are motivated instrumentalists from ages 7-16 years old (all instruments/voices welcome!) The course aims to inspire young musicians to create new music, experience small and large ensemble music making and to develop improvisation, instrumental, composition and performance skills. During the course, students will be exposed to music and other art forms outside of their usual experience and will have the opportunity to reflect and discuss what they hear We finish each course with a rip-roaring concert filled with solo pieces, group performances and the students own compositions! HACKNEY MUSIC SERVICE ANNUAL GALA 2017 October 5, 2017 by Claire Sivier Taking place at the Hackney Empire, this concert celebrates the achievements of some of the most gifted and talented musical pupils and students in our schools and community. It features a diverse range of ensembles including, bands, choirs, soloists and school groups, as well as our jazz ensemble, combined borough orchestras, dancers and drummers. Over 350 young people from Hackney’s primary, secondary and special schools will take to the stage, all of whom have excelled in music in their respective schools and borough-wide ensembles. The Music Gala incorporates the Mayor’s Music Awards for the fifth year. The MMA is a fund, established by the Mayor of Hackney, to help and support aspiring young musicians to develop their musical skills and to recognise the quality of the music education offer in Hackney’s schools. There are three categories: Pupil Award for Musical Achievement; Instrument Fund for Ensemble Development; and an award for Excellence in Music Education Practice. The EFG London Jazz Festival 2017 is seeking a team of enthusiastic volunteers with a taste for organisation to work with us on the delivery of this year’s Festival. We are London’s biggest city-wide music festival and bring together established stars and emerging talent, reflecting the traditions of jazz and illustrating its breadth and depth. As a volunteer, in whatever role, you feel part of the action instead of a mere spectator. Serious give great briefings and support so you become part of the team straight away. Once you get inside the Festival it never feels the same again’ (Ian, EFG London Jazz Festival 2016 volunteer) Within this time there are opportunities to volunteer in four separate areas of the Festival: Communications – For 1 volunteer to assist the communications team with the Festival information stands, guest lists and press liaison. Development – For 2 volunteers to support the development team in delivering sponsor and supporter receptions and branding across the Festival. Learning and Participation – For 2 or 3 volunteers to assist the Learning and Participation Team in administering and delivering multiple participation projects and events throughout the festival. Including artist liaison, general running and logistics support alongside publicity.
