18Jul2020 HMDT Music’s Saturday Programme serves over 350 students aged 6 months – 25 years on 30 Saturdays during each academic year. The CYMH Instrumental Programme CYMH is HMDT’s Instrumental Music School which offers students ages 5 upwards, an extensive curriculum including group and individual instrumental tuition, singing, musicianship and ensembles, as well as the Orchestras and Choirs of CYMH. Whilst in lock down sessions continue online, with weekly one-to-one instrumental lessons, and a combination of live and pre-recorded materials for ensembles for students to engage with, with students sending in work of their own to create performances. The Music Box The Music Box family learning programme for under 4s explores the foundations of music in a fun and interactive way. With their regular leader and a weekly guest musician, young children and their parents learn about music through rhythm and melodies, and experience a wide range of instruments and genres. Whilst in lock down sessions continue online weekly, with a combination of videos and live sessions for 3-4 year olds, and weekly resources for 0-2 year olds. Fledglings Fledglings Foundation Course offers Reception age children an introduction to music through singing, movement and games leading to end of term performances. Children are introduced to a range of vocal repertoire, encouraged to find their voices and helped to develop their confidence and team-work. I Can Sing! offers students aged 5 upwards the opportunity to experience the excitement of musical theatre and performance training in dance, singing and stagecraft with leading professional artists. With repertoire ranging from Broadway hits to new operas, they gain new skills, confidence and firm friendships. Whilst in lock down sessions continue weekly, with a combination of live sessions and pre-recorded resources. Students are encouraged to be creative and send in recordings and creative tasks! More info and booking here. Music Treehouse Music Treehouse is for students with Special Educational Needs, and is available to students from Early Years, up to and including Secondary. The interactive sessions focus on creative composition and are based around students individual abilities and needs. The Julian Joseph Jazz Academy A weekly Academy under the artistic direction of internationally renowned jazz pianist and composer Julian Joseph. Talented young instrumentalists and vocalists have an amazing opportunity to work with some of the world’s top jazz musicians to develop their creative talents and performance skills, through exploring the American roots of jazz.
